Level 1 DISP Membership

LEVEL 1 DISP ASSISTANCE | DEFENCE CONSULTANCY SERVICES

Companies seeking guidance with the Defence Industry Security Program’s (DISP) level 1 certification should seek DISP Co’s advisory services.

Trusted by companies Australia wide

The Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) Level 1 is a security program implemented by the Australian Government to protect sensitive information and assets held by companies in the defence industry. This program aims to establish minimum security requirements for companies involved in the supply chain of defence projects to ensure the protection of sensitive information and assets.

To be eligible for participation in DISP Level 1, companies must meet several requirements set out by the Australian Government. These requirements include having an established security management system, conducting regular risk assessments, implementing physical and personnel security measures, and having a designated security officer responsible for overseeing security practices.

Under DISP Level 1, companies are also required to implement specific cyber-security measures, including secure network infrastructure and regular vulnerability testing. Companies must also comply with specific storage and transmission protocols for sensitive information.

Overall, DISP Level 1 sets out extensive requirements that aim to establish a robust security framework within the defence industry supply chain. These requirements are continuously reviewed and updated to ensure they remain effective against emerging threats in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Self-sponsorship of Personnel Security Clearances

Manage Baseline Clearances In-house

DISP Level 1 membership enables companies to manage security clearances of personnel internally, allowing for greater flexibility and the ability to sponsor up to baseline clearances.

The CSO/SO should hold NV-1 or Negative Vetting-1 security clearances to allow for self-sponsorship of company staff. This check ensures that all individuals working within the company have undergone proper screening and have been deemed suitable for handling sensitive information.

Companies are required to report any suspected or actual security breaches to the government’s Defence Industry Security Program Office (DISPO) immediately. We assist in building processes and the governance procedures that enable compliant reporting.
