What is Entry Level DISP?

Entering the Defence Industry Market

Entry level DISP is the lowest level of the defence industry security program. This level of certification is often required for subcontractors of Primes (large defence companies including Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon Technologies etc.).

Both Primes and Government defence tenders are increasingly mandating entry level DISP in tenders. Though not officially confirmed, many industry experts have reported the preferential selection of DISP compliant companies even in tenders where DISP is not explicitly stated as a requirement for participation in the tender process.

By obtaining entry level DISP organisations will:

  • Develop governance documentation for the handling of classified materials.
  • Assign a security officer and chief security officer
  • Bring ICT standards to modern standards in line with the Essential 8.
  • and more…

Implementing Entry Level requirements

Bridging your compliance capability gap

Security Plan Development: We work closely with your company to develop a comprehensive security plan that meets DISP requirements. This includes identifying all critical assets, developing access control protocols, and implementing physical and cyber security measures.

Employee Training: One of the key requirements of the DISP is ensuring that all employees are aware of their responsibilities when it comes to safeguarding classified information. Our team can provide tailored training programs to educate employees on DISP requirements, including how to handle classified information and report any potential security breaches.

Risk Management: The DISP requires companies to have a risk management plan in place to identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats to classified information. We can assist in developing a risk management framework and procedures that align with DISP guidelines.

Facility Accreditation Support: Our team can guide you through the process of obtaining facility accreditation from the Department of Defence. This involves conducting security checks and audits, submitting required documentation, and liaising with government agencies on your behalf.

Challenges facing business leaders

In our experience, entry level DISP is often most suited to SMEs with some exposure to the defence and government sectors or those newly entering this lucrative market. Companies with great exposure and involvement in the defence industry (eg. the manufacturing and design of critical combat systems and components) are most suited to level 1 DISP and above.

With this in mind, SMEs often have difficulty in navigating the often complex and convoluted world of DISP compliance. Executives often prefer outsourcing this work to specialists, whilst spending their valuable contributing to business growth in their own areas of specialty.

This also applies to high level staff who may have the expertise to feasibly implement entry level DISP, but whose time and wages can often make such an endeavour unjustifiable.

DISP Consulting Co will ensure the successful, timely and efficient implementation of entry level DISP. With our assistance your company can fast-track the adoption of DISP requirements and focus on what matters most to shareholders – business growth.
